I’ve gotten out of the blogging habit, and that’s a shame. I miss sharing things with y’all. In that spirit, here are a few quick-hits:
— I’m four days into my lower-carb diet—and feeling fine.
So fine, in fact, that on Thursday, I didn’t eat ANY of this:
Leftovers from the office Halloween party. Even a week ago, I’d have been ALL over this table full of stuff. Probably had two or three cookies, plus a cupcake or two, chips and salsa, and Chee-tos (to chase the sweet).
But thanks to my decision to go back to a low-carb diet, I was able to resist. I did, however, have a few cubes of cheese from the leftover stash in the fridge. Only a few, though. Five, to be exact. That was the number the bag said was in a serving.
I’ve been tracking everything I eat in Lose It! It keeps track of my weekly average, which works out to 46 net carbs. Not super-low, but considerably lower than I’ve been taking in.
— Earlier in the week, I saw a tweet that made me think to myself “I want one.”

So I did, and got my fall leaf necklace Friday.
Thanks, Jasmine. I love it! It’s perfect for fall.
— I got inspired by Peas and Crayons’ latest salad recipe, Cranberry Cucumber Shredded Sprout Salad. In fact, I was so inspired that I ran to the grocery store after work Thursday to pick up the ingredients. Except I forgot the feta cheese, so I had to run back Friday afternoon between Starbucks time and work.
Being a meat-eater, I also added some turkey to the mix.
Delicious! It was so full of flavor, I almost didn’t realize I was downing so damn many veggies. Better yet, it kept me full for hours. It was an excellent reminder that salads can be good for you AND taste good.
Well worth the extra trip to Safeway.
— As if that tasty lunch wasn’t enough, Friday had another treat in store:
My first Starbucks holiday cup of the season. I swear they get prettier every year! In the cup? Coffee with sugar-free caramel syrup and heavy cream. Lower-carb for sure.
— I finished the first draft of Love & Baseball 3.
I wrote almost 50,000 words in about six weeks—perhaps not as impressive as the NaNoWriMo challenge to do 50K in 30 days. But this manuscript is already sold, and set to be published next April. That doesn’t leave me with the luxury of writing a total crap first draft, which is what NaNo novels are. (At least mine are.)
Suppose now I it’s time to knock out a home run title, eh?
