Another Thursday means it must be time for my weekly brain dump.
Actually, my brain is surprisingly empty. Maybe that’s what being on “staycation” will do for you. Or maybe it’s the product of a massive output in my WIP. I added more than 5K to the document today. Sure, some of it — OK, most of it — was a cut-and-paste job from the old version … but still I had to edit, tweak and make sure the old words fit with the new storyline.
No small accomplishment, let me tell you.
— I got my match for the HLB Tea Swap. Nicole from Apples and Arteries should be on the lookout for a package soon. I’ll likely pop it in the mail on Friday.
— As you know, I’ve been spending most of the week writing. Today, I’m taking a road trip to Payson to write with a different friend. The change of scenery will do me good. Her, too, as she’s dealing with a bathroom renovation. We’re planning writing time, followed by lunch and maybe a movie.
— Dinner was a sandwich made of baked chicken on a Bagel Thin with Miracle Whip and Laughing Cow cheese, with a side of turnip “hash.” I diced a turnip and part of an onion, then cooked it in 1 teaspoon olive oil with some salt, pepper, chili powder and garlic. The result was quite tasty. For more fun with turnips, check out my post over at Chicklets in the Kitchen.
— The rest of the day’s eats weren’t quite so stellar. I started out with my usual fruit and yogurt smoothie, this time with 1/2 cup each of peaches, blueberries and strawberries. Then it was off to Starbucks, where I had a Skinny mocha latte.
Still at Starbucks three hours later, I got another skinny latte (vanilla this time). At this point, I was still planning to do Simply Filling for the day. But at about 4 p.m., having eaten nothing since 11 a.m. and not planned ahead to bring myself a snack, I broke down and bought an oatmeal cookie. I was on a roll, so I didn’t want to leave to eat real food.
After getting that cookie, I decided to switch to Tracking for the day. The cookie cost me 10 Points … but better 10 daily points than 10 of my already-dwindling supply of weeklies. And it … was … so … yummy. I think they’ve changed the recipe since my last one. I inputted all the day’s eats, and came up with 22 Points, leaving a healthy amount for dinner and 4 after that for an evening snack.
So I salvaged what could have been a terrible eating day just by flopping WW techniques. I’m pretty pleased with myself for that idea. There was a time, not so very long ago, when I would have used it as an excuse to just keep eating.
… Uh … kind of like I did on Saturday, you mean? Okay, I’m not perfect. And I’m not as far removed from such behaviors as I’d like to think. I’m trying — and sometimes that’s what counts.
— Not so pleased with my lack of a workout Wednesday. Despite waking BEFORE my alarm, I lounged around in bed ’til after 10, when Anne Marie texted me to see if I wanted to meet at Starbucks earlier than noon. And I stayed at Starbucks until after 5, so an evening walk didn’t happen, either. Guess Wednesday and Thursday will be my rest days this week. I’ll have to be up and on the road by 8 to get to Payson by 10, so I doubt I’ll get in a morning workout today. Hopefully, I’ll be able to sneak in a little activity in the afternoon.
— Guess what I wasted my time on this morning? Not Instagram and Twitter … well, not so much. No, despite all warnings to stay away, I succumbed to the urge to download “Candy Crush” for my iPhone last night. Not smart. I should probably delete it now, before I get even more addicted. I just might do that … as soon as I can figure out how to get through Level 28 …
— Heading to bed early, so I can be up to hit the road. Looking forward to the road trip, as it means I can say I went somewhere on my vacation.
