Even More Random Thoughts on a Thursday

For the time being, I think EVERY Thursday is going to be Random Thoughts Thursday. It’s a great place to share all the things I haven’t had a chance to impart anywhere else.

— Have you heard about the Healthy Living Blogs Tea Swap? I read about the swap last fall. Although I was mildly interested, I somehow never managed to get in on the action — so when I saw they were sponsoring another one, I decided to take Nike’s advice and “Just do it.”

It won’t take that long to pop a couple of tea bags into the mail, and I might make a lifelong “blend” out of the deal.

— Speaking of “blends,” Blend Retreat is a month away. The excitement builds. It’s going to be a fantastic way to cap off a weeklong vacation with my brother and his family — and with everyone promising a life-changing experience, I can’t wait. I need a little life-changing right about now.

Flatter stomachPants not tight anymore!— Wait. That’s not entirely true. My life is going in the right direction.

I love that I’m finally seeing some progress in my weight-loss goals. When I bought these size L yoga pants at Kohl’s on super-discount last fall, I could barely squeeze into them — I certainly couldn’t wear them out in public. When I put ’em on late last week, they fit like a dream.

And look at that … I have a waist! I’m certainly not complaining about that development. This shirt, which I bought at the same time as the pants, also fits much better. It’s no longer skin-tight.

Only 16.7 pounds to One-derland. And this time when I get there, I’m not leaving.

button250— Sadly, I’ve been slacking on Best Body Bootcamp workouts this week — and that won’t help me reach One-derland faster. Dare I admit I didn’t actually print out the new sheets until Wednesday? Sunday night I had the great “F*ck Machines 5” debacle with my internet service provider; then all hell broke loose in Boston Monday, and I was too tired to look at workout videos after work. Tuesday I took a walk in honor of #RunForBoston; and Wednesday I let another rejection from a publisher get me down and didn’t work out at all.

When I finally did get around to printing, I had to go back to Tina’s last newsletter to get a printable version because the Google Docs version wouldn’t oblige. I’m glad I did, because it gave me a chance to re-read the inspirational message it contained:

Put your focus in finding YOUR challenge, not the person at the gym working out next to you. Not the other member posting to the Facebook group. YOUR challenge. This program is designed for you. Go at your own pace, reach where you think you can’t accomplish more, then give that limit a little nudge to keep on improving.

I think I’ve been a wee bit guilty of falling into that evil comparison trap — and this was just the reminder I needed to make bootcamp my own. Thanks, Tina!

Whipped Cottage Cheese PB Dip— In my latest post over at Chicklets in the Kitchen, I reveal my newest snack obsession: Cottage cheese whipped with nut butter. It’s awesome on jicama and sweet potatoes, and I’m sure there are about a thousand other ways to enjoy it. Weigh in with yours. The recipe — such as it is — is also there. (Spoiler alert: It’s just  1/2 cup cottage cheese and 1 Tablespoon nut butter, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon.)

Chobani find— I still haven’t tried any of the Chobani Flips I found at Target Saturday. Funny how I HAD to get my hands on them … but now that they’re sitting in my fridge, I find myself not wanting to spend that many of my weekly 49 Points on one.

Maybe I’ll splurge on Saturday, after softball. I should earn quite a few APs at practice.

— Starbucks is my happy place. I get so much more done there than I do at home.

— I miss the Boyfriend. Now that he’s down in Mesa, I don’t get to see him nearly enough.

— Two good movies are coming to town this weekend: “Oblivion” with Tom Cruise and “Place Beyond the Pines” with Bradley Cooper AND Ryan Gosling. I want to see them both.

See? I told you: Totally random thoughts. Now, I’m off to bed. Maybe if I get a decent amount of sleep, I’ll be eager to bounce out of bed and complete my bootcamp workout.
