Once again, my brain seems to have taken a vacation — just when I sit down to blog, it takes a break. Perhaps I need to feed it something different?
A quick update on my day: I woke up the first time my alarm went off … and only hit “snooze” about three times before I actually hauled my rear end out of bed. After grabbing a stick of string cheese, I headed outside for a walk — and ended up covering 1.76 miles in 30-ish minutes.
Yes, that’s a much slower pace than the one I set Tuesday — but there’s a good reason. My legs hurt … something fierce.
I blame Tina. Even though Best Body Bootcamp‘s Workout B didn’t seem quite as tough as Workout A, it was a killer. A killer, I tell you. I even took some time to foam roll last night after I shut down my laptop … and I still woke up achy.
I have to keep humming John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Hurts So Good” to remind myself this isn’t a bad thing. (Warning: Video contains requisite scantily clad females. But John Cougar looks so young … because he was. It’s pre-Mellencamp. You’re welcome.)
Nothing wrong with using muscles that usually don’t see much action, right?
Walk complete, I whipped up a Pineapple Upside Down Cake Smoothie (still my favorite) and packed up some eats for the rest of the day.
Starbucks was busy, but not as busy as Wednesday. Wednesday, Anne Marie and I couldn’t get a table near a plug-in. Thursday, I was able to get a table that, with a little creative situating, reached an outlet. I didn’t mind sitting at that angle, because it gave me a great view of the Peaks out the window.
Please note my drink of the day: An iced green tea. It did have one Splenda in it, but that’s OK. I only had 3 WW Points unaccounted for with my day’s eats, and I knew I wanted to stop at Dunkin’ Donuts on my way to work, so I made the choice to get tea instead of a latte.
I’m still having trouble restricting myself to 34 Points. Of course, it didn’t help that when I stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts, I ended up getting the new Baskin-Robbins-inspired Mint Chocolate Chip iced coffee I’d seen advertised in my email earlier in the week. (Remember my extra 3 Points? It had 5 (I think). I also got 2 jelly-filled Munchkins, which were another 4. Not the smartest choice.)
I think I ought to focus on getting more real food, less junk.
Let’s get on with my Friday Fives, shall we?
Five things I’m loving right now
Best Body Bootcamp. Yes, it’s tough — but it’s worth it. I’m worth it. I love the support and camaraderie amongst participants via bootcamp’s Facebook group. It’s similar to the support from fellow HealthysELFers and Bootie Buster Challenge participants … but I need all the help I can get. It’s way too easy for me to be lazy (and eat crap).
This turquoise T-shirt from Old Navy. I picked it up at the big Black Friday sale and then forgot about it — but when I rediscovered it atop my dresser, I discovered it fits great. (I do not, however, love the muffin top.)
PopChips’ kettle corn flavored chips.
Roasted Garlic hummus.
Finally getting my new printer set up. It’s so convenient to be able to print from my computer OR my iPhone.
Five things I’m looking forward to
Seeing the Boyfriend’s new apartment in Phoenix.
The office softball team’s first practice. I just wish I could remember if the softball bats and gloves are in my car or in the Boyfriend’s mother’s garage.
Getting my tax refund. The first thing I’m going to do? Register for RWA Nationals in Atlanta this summer. Too bad I won’t get enough to purchase my airfare at the same time.
My next free drink from Starbucks. It should be coming soon.
Five books on my nightstand
Too Hot to Handle by Victoria Dahl
Making Him Sweat by Meg Maguire (Harlequin Blaze)
The Guy to be Seen With by Fiona Lowe (Harlequin Kiss)
First Time for Everything by Aimee Carson (Harlequin Kiss)
Undertow by Cherry Adair
Bet you can’t guess what I’m attempting to write next, eh?
Speaking of writing, I’m going to sign off now. Maybe I can sneak in a few hundred more words before I drop off to sleep.
