Sadly, I have no theme for today’s post — just a lot of random happenings and thoughts. Hey — it happens. I think I used up all my blogging mojo on my post over at Chicklets in the Kitchen. Drop by over there if you have a go-to snack you’d like to share. I need all the ideas I can get.
— Anyone who follows me on Instagram probably saw my latest issue: My watch band bit the dust. It’s been on its last legs for a while now, and sometime during the night, it finally gave way. It’s annoying how many times I checked my bare wrist for the time or date.
One of my coworkers asked, “Why don’t you just check your cell phone?”
Very good question. That’s what I probably should do. But I’ve worn a watch pretty much every day of my adult life. I don’t see that changing any time soon, no matter how practical it would be.
— I did Workout B from Best Body Bootcamp this morning. And yes, I got through all three sets this time (with modifications). It took me about 30 minutes.
I found myself really liking the ball plie squat. That means 1) Tina’s losing her touch for torture (kidding!) or 2) I’m probably doing it wrong. I vote No. 2.
— After the workout, I whipped up a new smoothie. To capture the flavors of apple pie, I used apple/cinnamon-flavored Chobani, 1 frozen banana, 1 apple (unpeeled but roughly chopped), 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1 1/4 cups unsweetened almond milk, 3/4 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon butter extract and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Not bad, but not perfect yet.
— Heard from the DMV today. They sent me an email titled “Your Vehicle Registration Renewal Invitation.” If it’s an invitation, do I have the choice to decline? I think not. They ought to call it what it is: “your bill.”
Then again, this is the state that gives you a license with an expiration date of 2036, then says “you must get a new photo taken every XX years.” Why don’t they just issue a license that expires in that time frame? Either way, you’re stuck paying a fee for a new one.
— I polished off the last of my new favorite dip Wednesday. Trader Joe’s Reduced-Guilt Spinach and Kale Greek Yogurt Dip is the bomb. I picked it up with some trepidation on my last visit (I’m not a huge kale fan). I’m glad I took a chance, because I love it. I ate most of it with veggies, as a dip, although I also smeared it on a Sandwich Thin, like a sandwich spread, a couple of times. Either way, it’s delicious.
— Got 923 words written on my new manuscript before work. I’m not flying just yet, but I think I’m ready for takeoff. Once I get H/h together for the first meet, the story will write itself.
— I worked a lot more veggies in my diet Wednesday. Dinner was the Quinoa-Stuffed Butternut Squash I baked up Sunday night. (Lunch was a small burger and fries from McDonald’s, though. I wouldn’t be me if I ate all healthy, all the time!)
— Eating a ton of veggies hasn’t seemed to help me recover. I’m still sore from today’s workout … or maybe even Monday’s. I haven’t been the same since. But it’s a good sore. I can tell the difference between a “I worked hard” ache and a pain that’s not supposed to be there. This is definitely the former.
I still haven’t gotten around to foam rolling. I know I should do that. It’ll help with the soreness, right?
