Changing seasons

Thursday was the first day that really felt like fall.

The clouds were leaden; the air was cool.

It was glorious.

Only two things could have improved my day: A day off work and more scarlet leaves. I get tired of golden aspen.

Today it’s supposed to get nasty. Cold temperatures and — gulp — snow on the San Francisco Peaks. Oh, joy. Do we have to skip right from summer to winter?

So long, fall leaves.

You won’t outlast the storm.

(This photo was an alternate for “Up Close” in the #FMSPhotoaDay challenge. I went with a close-up of my cat, Spirit, instead.)

I posted both these pictures on Instagram. You can find me there under username ArleneAWL.
