Seems I was on the right track back in July 2010 when I wrote about turning “I can’t” into “I can.”
While waiting in line at the grocery store a few weeks ago, I was browsing through a magazine (I think it was First) and stumbled on an intriguing blurb.
That’s right. You can apparently boost your willpower simply by swapping the word “can’t” for “don’t.”
It makes a certain kind of sense. Saying “I can’t eat that” (whatever that might be) does somehow sound less palatable than “I don’t eat that.”
Hmm. Have I just had another big diet breakthrough? Will that be the key to making it through my vacation without gaining weight?
Time will tell, I guess. I’ll let you know.
